Successful start in Yorkshire & Humber region

Less than 12 months since its launch, the Yorkshire & Humber region is already delivering a wide range of youth programmes. Brathay is working in partnership with  a number of organisations to tackle youth crime and anti-social behaviour in targeted areas. All our projects are designed to meet the aims of the Every Child Matters agenda. A selection of our latest projects are listed below.

Young People 'at risk' of Drug and Alcohol Misuse

  • 'Take the Challenge' Alcohol Prevention Project. Linked to the Youth Crime Action Plan in Bradford. Ask for the 'Take the Challenge' DVD.

' At Risk' Young Women

  • Young Women's Performance Group. A programme in partnership with Bradford Youth Development Partnership (BYDP) culminating in a performance at the City's Alhambra Studio Theatre
  • Girl Empower. Supporting Bradford's Joint Activities Service (JAS) this works with young women at risk of school exclusion

Leadership

  • The Youth of Today Leadership Programme. A national programme to develop 300m young people from disadvantaged communities to become young leaders in collaboration with Future Foundations and Change Makers
  • 'Our Communities' Project. Brathay is training a group of young people as Community Ambassadors with the aim of reducing tensions between Asian and new European Communities in Girlington, Bradford. In partnership with Education Bradford and Integrated Youth Services.

ASB Prevention and Reducing Offending/First Time Entrants to the Criminal Justice System

  • Anti-Social Behaviour Prevention. Brathay is working successfully with Bradford Senior Youth Inclusion Team (SYIP) and Positive Activities for Young People (PAYP). We are also offering:
  • Multi-agency workforce development training to promote closer inter-agency working between YCAP agencies in Bradford. 
  • Family Intervention Project (FIP) An exciting new 'whole family' project with Bradford Family Intervention Project which aims to improve bonds and nurture elements within the family unit.

Raising Attainment

  • A number of programmes including raising attainment for Looked After Chidlren in partnership with Bradford Children's Social Care.
